Giving your child the right tools to succeed
Quality reading materials, new textbooks and learning resources such as magazines and computer software boost your child's learning experience.
Since 2003, we have provided $86 million in one-time funding for textbooks and library resources. And in January 2009, we made a $15-million investment in elementary school libraries. Each elementary school received at least $1,500 to go towards library books and other resources.
Remember: in addition to enjoying new books in school libraries, students can benefit from regularly visiting a public library. Libraries often have in-house programs such as reading circles for younger children. Library staff can also offer great suggestions on finding books that suit your children's age range and interests.
