Across the province, more students are achieving success:
Ontario's elementary students
- 72 per cent of English-language Grade 6 students met the provincial standard in reading in 2009-10 — a 16 percentage point increase from 2002-03.
- 80 per cent of French-language Grade 6 students met the provincial standard in reading in 2009-10 — a 22 percentage point increase from 2002-03.
- More than 90 per cent of Ontario's primary classes met the target of 20 students or fewer in 2008-09 — up from 31 per cent in 2003-04.
Ontario's secondary students
- At the end of the 2008-09 school year, 71 per cent of Grade 10 students had earned 16 or more credits — an increase of four percentage points compared to the end of the 2006-07 school year.
- 83 per cent of English-language students passed the Grade 10 literacy test in 2010-11 — an 11 percentage point increase compared to 2002-03.
- 86 per cent of French-language students passed the Grade 10 literacy test in 2010-11 — a seven percentage point increase compared to 2002-03.
