Employer Hiring Incentive


What it is

A $2-per-hour hiring incentive for employers who hire a student during the summer.  Apply to an Employment Ontario office (offering summer jobs service) in your community

Who can apply

Private, not-for-profit or broader public sector employers operating and offering a summer job in Ontario to students age 15 to 30 who are returning to school in the fall.

Duration of work or services

From April 1st to September 30th.

When to apply

Before hiring a summer student.

Find your local Employment Ontario (summer jobs service) office online or by calling Employment Ontario toll-free at 1-800-387-5656.  Learn more about eligibility requirements and how to obtain the Summer Jobs application form.  Employers offering a rural job can contact the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs; employers offering a job in northern Ontario can contact the Ontario Ministry of Northern Development and Mines.
