About the Provincial Partnership Council

The Provincial Partnership Council (PPC) is a volunteer advisory committee comprised of leaders from the private, public and voluntary sectors. It is focussed on promoting Passport to Prosperity (PDF, 352 KB), a province-wide awareness initiative to increase employer participation in providing school-work programs for high school students.

The PPC's mission is to ensure that every employer in Ontario appreciates the value of engaging high school students in meaningful experiences that foster workplace skills development and helps them with education and career-related decisions.

The PPC, with partners Hill & Knowlton Canada, undertakes a range of activities to achieve its mission, including:

  1. Championing Passport to Prosperity and experiential learning opportunities in members' own workplaces;
  2. Organizing and supporting the Employer Champion Awards, a quarterly and regional awards program that celebrates employers who are committed to providing work experience opportunities to high school students;
  3. Undertaking speaking opportunities to promote Passport to Prosperity;
  4. Providing feedback on workplace issues to the Ministry of Education; and,
  5. Completing outreach to personal and professional networks to promote Passport to Prosperity and to encourage others to offer school-work programs to high school students.
  6. Supporting the Employer Registry (Ontario's free online community connecting employers and tomorrow's workforce. It is a single point of contact for employers looking to get involved with experiential learning programs.

The activities of the PPC are supported by the Ontario Ministry of Education, and the Ontario Ministry of Training Colleges, and Universities. Passport to Prosperity is also supported in local communities through 26 business-education councils and local training boards across the province.
