Full-Day Kindergarten

Full-Day KindergartenYesterday the government announced which schools would offer full-day kindergarten starting in 2011-12. In addition, school board directors received a memo from Jim Grieve, Assistant Deputy Minister of the Early Learning Division, confirming their sites. You can also check our website to search through the full list.

You may have noticed that we're starting to use a new name to refer to this program publicly. Full-day kindergarten better aligns with what the media, parents and the general public have been calling it all along.

l've attached some communications materials that I hope will be helpful as we move forward:

  • the new “Full-Day Kindergarten” web button can be posted on your board's website to direct parents to the ministry site (JPG, 19 KB)
  • the matte article can announce your board's year-two schools and provide parents with other information about fees and subsidies (Word, 39 KB)
  • the Q&As can be helpful in answering questions from parents about how schools were chosen to offer full-day kindergarten in 2010-11 and 2011-12. (Word, 32 KB)

As always, l'm interested in knowing if you find these materials useful. Feel free to send me an email.

Thank you
