the Premier's Awards for Teaching Excellence.

Transcript of video

Hello, I'm Kathleen Wynne, Minister of Education.

Every day, school and school board staff motivate, support and inspire Ontario's students to reach their full potential.

The Premier's Awards for Teaching Excellence are a great way to recognize those individuals who make a difference in education.

The awards celebrate outstanding educators and support staff in Ontario's publicly funded schools.

And, I'm pleased to say that nominations are now open for 2010.

There are so many examples of excellence in Ontario schools, and there are as many reasons to nominate someone for an award.

You could recognize a teacher whose lessons engage and inspire.

A support staff member who helped your child overcome challenges.

Or a principal who creates a welcoming school environment.

Anyone can make a nomination in any of the six award categories:

  • Teacher of the Year
  • New Teacher of the Year
  • Excellent Support Staff
  • Excellence in Leadership
  • Lifetime Achievement
  • Team of the Year

Since the awards began, thousands of educators have been nominated for their work, and more than 30 educators have been celebrated for their outstanding contributions.

With nominations now open for the 2010 awards, we look forward to hearing more stories about educators who motivate our students to reach their full potential.

Thank you.
