Long-Term Capital PlanningThe Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities is developing a long-term infrastructure plan for postsecondary education in Ontario. Planning will help ensure the province’s postsecondary institutions continue to meet long-term needs and deliver the high-quality education that Ontarians will need to be competitive in the new, knowledge-based global economy. In order to ensure future investments in postsecondary education receive the best value for money, Ontario is strengthening capital planning processes and seeking the engagement of stakeholders across Ontario. To help begin this planning process, a consulting firm, Courtyard Group, was contracted to launch an intensive engagement process with all of Ontario's colleges and universities over a number of months. The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has partnered with Training, Colleges and Universities in this process. In March 2009, Courtyard Group submitted a detailed final report, including observations and recommendations, regarding the development of a strategic long-term plan for capital investments in our critical postsecondary education system.
The Ministry is currently reviewing these recommendations in the context of infrastructure needs in the postsecondary education system, as well as the economic and fiscal environment facing the province. |
