What's new?

You can now count up to two cooperative education credits towards the 18 compulsory credits needed for a high school diploma.
  • If you are taking a co-op program this school year (200506), you can now count up to two credits you earn in the program as compulsory credits for your diploma.
  • See your guidance counsellor, co-op teacher, or student success teacher right away to talk about these new opportunities.

Why take co-op?

Test-drive a career:

Do the job and get a chance to see if your career choice is really what you want before choosing your postsecondary destination.

Build your skills:

Work one-on-one with a co-worker in a program designed to meet your interests, needs, and strengths.

Get hands-on work experience:

Overcome the problem of "no job without experience and no experience without a job". Put real work experience on your résumé.

"I felt I was treated like a colleague, not a student, during my co-op at the city's fire department. The knowledge I gained was unlike anything I have learned from a textbook."
BRYAN P.
"My healthcare support services co-op placement gave me multiple opportunities to experience the hospital atmosphere first-hand. It also allowed me to make important career decisions that will impact the rest of my life."
MIRANDA S.
