Nominations for 2011-12 closed on February 6, 2012.
Anyone can submit a nomination for the Premier's Awards for Teaching Excellence, with one exception: a nominee's family member cannot submit a nomination.
Simply follow these seven steps:
- Choose the appropriate award category
There are eight award categories. Ask yourself: which one best describes the person you are nominating? Each award category has specific eligibility criteria – please check the criteria before you nominate
- Talk to your nominee(s)
Ask if they are willing to be nominated, because they will need to provide their written consent.
- Find two people who will support your nomination
They should know the nominee(s) and be willing to write a short letter explaining why your candidate(s) should receive an award. Be sure to include two different perspectives – a parent, a principal, a student, an educator, someone from the board office, a colleague. Remember, family members cannot nominate or write a letter of support for nominees.
- Write letters showing why your nominee deserves a Premier's Award
Your nomination letter and letters of support help the selection panel understand your candidate's strengths. But keep them short! Each letter should be no more than three pages long and must be signed by the writer.
How to write a compelling nomination letter
- Download and complete the nomination form
The nomination form asks for contact information for you and the individual or team you are nominating for an award. Remember to get your nominee(s) to sign the consent form.
- Make a copy
Please keep a copy of your entire submission in case your package gets lost in the mail.
- Send the package in before the nomination deadline (February 6, 2012)
Mail or courier the complete package to:
