Premier's Awards for Teaching Excellence

Team of the Year

Who is eligible?

A team made up of two to 10 individuals employed by a publicly funded school board/authority who have worked together to achieve a common goal.

Teams can include educators, support staff or both. They can hold a variety of positions in a board office or a school, or in different schools and boards.

For a complete list of eligibility criteria visit the Frequently Asked Questions page.

To nominate an early childhood educator/teacher team, please visit the Full-Day Kindergarten Team of the Year category.

What are the award criteria?

The team members:

  • work collaboratively to achieve a common goal that supports and improves student learning
  • engage in or implement a special project or initiative
  • take on new challenges and demonstrate initiative, innovation, creativity, and leadership
  • build strong partnerships and are role models for collaboration
  • have been a positive force for change and have demonstrated an improvement in the school community

What are some examples of excellent teams?

Many things make an outstanding team, and there are many reasons to nominate a team for a Premier's Award. For example, it could be a team of educators and support staff who build strong relationships with parents to help children learn.

The team may help build students' environmental knowledge and perspectives, and help them become environmentally responsible citizens. Or the team could help students learn about developing healthy relationships and building a positive school climate.

"The team's innovative and inclusive approach to the identification and formation of leaders has fostered a mindset among students that 'everyone can be a leader'".
